Here's an eye opening article published in the Vancouver Sun yesterday, about the impending end to the "age of oil". The experts believe that if we're lucky, we may have only about 40 years worth left.

Have a look at http://theoildrum.com/ while trying not to believe *all* the doom in there!

Anyway, part of the message is that we've quite likely had peak oil already, what's left costs more than the current price to extract, and it won't run out instantly but will slowly get more more and more expensive (ignoring noise/volatility in the pricing) cutting out non-essential uses, such as personal motoring...
