Energy Star Window Rebate

Maybe it was me not paying enough attention or maybe I wasn't given adequate information, but check this out:

in order to qualify for an Energy Star window rebate, you have to have an energy assessment done on your home BEFORE and after installation of your new windows.

(Let me reiterate: before AND after...not just after). In other words, if you do what I did and wait until the work is complete before contacting the Energy Star folks, it's too late.

Needless to say, I'm a little more than annoyed. It's just a little frustrating, because if the old windows were so flippin' efficient, why would we spend thousands of dollars replacing them?

Anyway, I just wanted to share this nugget of info with anyone out there who might end up in the same boat. If you haven't had your energy related home renos done yet, visit FIRST.

Good luck...

I’m always pleased to see blogs like yours because they share my point of view bout the earth in general, but I am more inclined to write about different power options. If you’d like, you can check out I often go there for I have the same sentiments when it comes to “saving the world one blog post at a time” agenda.
Keep on posting

How annoying. So many vendors pull this nonsense. Thanks for the tip. We might consider new windows in a year or three so this info could come in handy.

Apuch - you're welcome :-)

I wish I'd been more on the ball looking into it prior to installation, but how was I to know? Live and learn I guess.
